Wilderness First Aid PLUS

Join us November 15th-17th near Malad City, Idaho, for an exciting and fully immersive *Wilderness First Aid PLUS* (WFA+) event.

This event is in Partnership with Wild Terrain Expeditions, and SOS_School Of Survival.

Designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to handle emergencies in remote settings. Based out of a scenic backcountry cabin, this 3-day course dives deep into wilderness medicine, offering an essential foundation for everyone from casual hikers to seasoned outdoor professionals. Taught by experienced medical professionals, the course combines the latest in evidence-based medicine with practical interventions used in emergency and combat settings.

The WFA+ curriculum includes 24 hours of medical training, covering essential skills like patient assessment, trauma care with the M.A.R.C.H. algorithm, bleeding control, wound closure, and handling orthopedic injuries. Environmental topics, such as avalanche safety and animal encounters, prepare students for specific wilderness challenges, while evacuation and prolonged care techniques are also covered.

In addition to medical training, this course offers 6 hours of wilderness survival instruction from our “Survival 101: Learn to Return” class. You’ll gain hands-on experience with core survival skills, such as shelter building, fire craft, water purification, and creating a PACE (Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency) plan. By the end, you’ll not only be prepared to handle medical emergencies in the wild but also equipped with the foundational survival skills to face any challenge.

We will also be talking about the dangers of vehicle recovery and how to asses overland related injuries.

Highlights include:

• Daily catered breakfast and dinner prepared fresh by our gourmet chef from Table VIII Overland Catering, bringing a touch of culinary flair to camp cooking—you’ll be raving about the meals every day!
• You will receive an accredited certification from SOS_School of Survival and Adventure Med for “Learn to Return” survival course and “Wilderness First Aid”.
• You will receive a North American Rescue Throw Kit to add to your first aid kit and we will go over the practical uses of everything inside.

This is a camping based course where we will be staging out of a backcountry cabin that will be used for educational lectures, If you do not have the means to camp in the cold weather of Idaho during this time the Cabin is open to sleep in as well. Expect low temperatures throughout the course, we will work as a team to thrive in this environment!

• • sleeping accommodations are not provided during the duration of this course, Please ensure you have your own camp set up that is suitable for cold weather camping. The cabin is open to staying the night in if you do not have a suitable cold weather tent. Please note that if you intend on staying the in the cabin, understand that people will be in and out of it early in the morning to prepare for each days class.
  • Class is starting promptly at 10AM, if you are camping with us, please arrive early in order to do so.
  • Class will end Sunday evening after dinner and graduation ceremony.
